I have already pre-ordered this book for my library! It was great seeing you at the WLA conference and your talk inspired me with the books that I am buying for my library. I hope you can come to visit my library soon.
I also have THOUGHTS on the OMITB. There was not enough of the victim in this season to set up the next season. And the villain reveal was way too rushed. First 8 episodes were great, last 2 extremely disappointing.
I can't WAIT for this one!!!! Also I have so many thoughts lol!!
-Musical theater kid high-five!!
-The whole Banner of Heaven thing...oof. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have so many thoughts about it and wish we were able to tell our own stories more often and not be the brunt of jokes or used for innacurate shock value.
-I LOVED the Only Murders finale hahaha but I see what you mean. I am not one that super pays attention to plot, and I'm more than a little obsessed with the whole Meryl/Martin thing so of course I loved that lol
-Wonder IS a wonder!!! One of my comp titles for Stars.
-Can't wait for BOTH your books next year!!!!
-Just finished Funeral Ladies and oh my gosh Esther is now one of my all time favorites.
Thank you soooooo much! Okay so OMITB--I do love Meryl/Martin but it just felt so rushed with the villain reveal! But I am looking forward to next season; I loved how the episode ended. And Under the Banners--I can definitely say as a Catholic I FEEL THIS. Basically every movie about Catholics is about secret societies, Vatican scandal, or abusive priests. 💀LMK thoughts! I'm about to read the book too.
Eeeee! Ok yes, I totally see that about the rushed villain reveal. That’s a very solid point. I’m just too distracted by my Meryl/Martin squees to care hehehe. Part of why I loved your book so much. I want 3000% more 60+/70+ characters doing amazing things.
Oof yeah, you know what I’m talking about. Honestly, stories like this just feel so completely…irrelevent to the actual experience of being a member of the church? Like they’re using the backround of my religion to add to the drama, but the story itself really actually doesn’t have anything to do with my church or faith at all, and something else could just as easily be substituted in. Like, yeah, if the church is part of the background and character, then that’s about that one single human making choices, and as we know, there are awful single humans in any group. This, plus the whole “secret lives of Mormon housewives” things and all that, it just makes me want to roll my eyes and be like, okay everyone, you realize that this has like, nothing to do with basically all the rest of us, and that we spend our time talking about Jesus and cleaning up after hurricanes, right? (I might have a lot of thoughts on this and am brainstorming a Utah middle grade atm lol…) ((also another thing I loved about your book. PLEASE also 3000% more healthy and nuanced representation of faith and religion.))

So excited to get this one for my daughter’s 11th birthday two days later! ❤️
