Excellent advice! I’m in edits right now on a manuscript and it’s my first time working with this particular editor. I learn something new every time I go through the process.

Well, as far as your synopsis on the editing process goes, 10/10 no notes. That first email is TERRIFYING.

I love this!! And your process of receiving edits looks quite familiar. I know I have to start with a very cursory read of the letter and that it's going to leave me overwhelmed and breathless and I have to run away and not think about it for about 24 hours. Then I can come back, read it again, and it looks a little less daunting.

And thanks for coming over to the Smorgasbord with your excellent advice :D

That part about Nooks made me laugh :) You brought to mind the first edit letter I got for a book I co-wrote, probably 17 or 18 years ago. It was at least 30 pages long and I was devastated! But I have come to appreciate them and, like you, ride the emotional roller coaster that they bring. Can't wait to have this book in our store!
